Senator Hatch's Tragic Comedy Routine

We recently sent our L9 letter to Senator Hatch admonishing him to vote to restrain the NSA. He kindly wrote back. But surely he was joking. Surely there was no way something so contradictory and so contrary to the Constitution went out in seriousness.

If the senator read his letter from a stage, it would be one of the most outrageous comedy routines of all time. It would absolutely bring down the house. Unfortunately, his ideas will also bring down the country. And he’s not joking.

The words in red are his. The words in black are my interjections, but really no comment can do justice to his sickening admissions and unapologetic undermining of human liberty so usually I just left a lot of blanks for you to fill in your own outrage.

Dear Mr. Jackson: Thank you for taking the time to write regarding the illegal leak of information regarding National Security Agency (NSA) intelligence gathering efforts. As you are aware, information regarding a court-approved and congressionally-authorized NSA surveillance program was leaked illegally in June 2013 by Mr. Edward Snowden, a government contract employee. This leak included the details of a once-classified program which consisted of NSA securing a court order to receive “metadata” from phone service providers.

WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT? I DIDN’T MENTION SNOWDEN IN MY QUESTION DID I? IS HE DEFENDING THE TREASONOUS CRIMES OF THE NSA WHILE TURNING THE SIN UPON THE WHISTLEBLOWER? DID HE JUST CONFESS THE PROGRAM WAS SECRET-COURT APPROVED AND CONGRESSIONALLY AUTHORIZED?

This metadata included phone numbers and the time, location, and duration of calls,

THAT’S ALL!

but the warrant did not authorize listening to the call content or wiretapping, nor did it contain the names or individual information of subscribers.

BECAUSE YOU HAVE THAT INFORMATION ALREADY FROM THE NUMBER!

Any wiretap or procurement of additional information would necessitate a separate court-approved warrant.

That being said, I maintain serious concerns with

OKAY, FINALLY, NOW HE IS GOING TO ADDRESS HIS CONCERNS WITH THE NSA’S UNDERMINING OF DUE PROCESS AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS.

That being said, I maintain serious concerns with anyone’s effort to take it upon themselves to make legal and political judgments regarding what he or she deems legitimate, or what the public “needs to know.” When an individual deviates from the legal and political system, thinking he or she knows better than everyone else, untold damage may occur.

WHAT? WOW. BUT IT’S OKAY WHEN SECRETIVE ORGANIZATIONS TAKES IT UPON THEMSELVES TO DEEM WHAT IS LEGITIMATE IN THE CONSTITUTION? WHEN THE SENATE AND PRESIDENT DETERMINE WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW? THAT YOU AND THE NSA AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL HAVE LIED ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS, DENYING ANY OF THIS WAS OCCURRING, CALLING THEM PARANOID CONSPIRACY THEORIES?

As your senator, and as a citizen, I care very deeply about our privacy and civil liberties, as well as the safety and protection of American lives.

My past service on the Senate Intelligence Committee and continued classified briefings have made me acutely aware of the constant threats facing our country, and I remain committed to provide our military and intelligence community with the tools needed to prevent and combat enemy attacks.

However, I have always fought to ensure that the tools our country uses to prevent enemy attacks operate within the bounds of the Constitution and the law.

I will continue to work to ensure that this and any other intelligence program is carefully monitored so that

. . . EDWARD SNOWDEN DOES NOT MEDDLE AGAIN!!!

individual rights and freedoms are protected within our nation’s effort to protect our interests both domestically and abroad. "Thank you, once again, for your letter."
Your Senator,
Orrin G. Hatch

Very witty but, sadly true. The emcee for the show sucks though. *LOL* He should be fired for offending the US sane citizens. *LOL* How these politicians lie and feel good about is insane. I hope "O"-bomb-acare cover insanity because it's wide problem in Washington but, I forgot, they're *EXEMPT*. *LOL* "O" nice to everyone now so we will never have any enemies outside the USA because he has created them internally and the world knows he's got a tough enough job pissing of the USA so they'll leave him alone. *LOL*

Sent my letter to Orrin and obviously got back the same response. Sent his office back another one- My response: I didn't ask you to explain WHY you ignored the Constitution, I wrote asking you to protect privacy by defending its constitutional guarantee

The outright evil within our government is incomprehensible. It is divisive, much more than arbitrary and the goal is complete control of it's people by whatever means possible.

"However, I have always fought to ensure that the tools our country uses to prevent enemy attacks operate within the bounds of the Constitution and the law." This is another instance where the peoples' ideas become buried in the heap of rhetoric created by their officials. Time upon time again, this divisive tactic is employed, handsomely and conveniently covered with the outright disregard for the very life giving documents which were created to be an endless well of sustenance for it's people. The very thought that our politicians lie is not only accepted, but a promoted practice and a tactic used to falsely sooth any opposition. Over time, these officials have surgically removed the people's backbone as they anesthetize them unknowingly. Many have never recovered from the anesthesia with the intended end result being a lifeless blob of gelatinous flesh.

When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die.

Uh-oh

And now there are two (er, three?). Did it matter which? After watching the debates, it seems being AGAINST Liberty is now a campaign technique. And the winners are . . . (not the Bill of Rights).

To those who think the UN Treaty could never override laws in the US: "When talking about how sometimes international law trumps even state law, one example is that an additive to gasoline was seeping into California's water supply contaminating it but California could not pass laws to remove the additive due to some by-law in NAFTA."
